Reiki Courses - one to one or small groups
Usui Reiki Ryoho is a personal healing and spiritual development practice as well as a therapy to use for the good of others. You will learn traditional Japanese and Western Reiki techniques to carry out self-healing sessions and treatment sessions for others. The aim is to give you the flavour of Usui's original teachings, authentic Japanese Reiki practices and well-established Western Reiki techniques.
Anyone can learn Reiki - no special gifts are required, and Reiki 1 is suitable for absolute beginners in therapy and energy work. After the course, you will go home and work on yourself, friends and family with the techniques you have learned, and you will develop confidence in using Reiki every day.
The next step is Reiki 2 Okuden, and when you are ready to come along for this practitioner level you simply book onto a convenient course. This level will introduce you to the use of the Reiki symbols and help you develop your skills so that you can confidently use Reiki as a practitioner if you wish to do so.
Students with special needs and physical challenges are most welcome to learn Reiki. Explain what support you need and I will work with you in the best way I can to help you become a Reiki healer.
Reiki for Beginners - Reiki 1 Shoden, a one-day course
You will define what Reiki is, and learn about the Japanese background and history of Reiki. The course focuses on the Japanese and Buddhist roots of Reiki and you will learn lots of fascinating facts about the life of Dr Usui, the founder, and how Reiki made the journey from Japan to western countries.
You will do plenty of practical work on your own healing needs. The Reiki standard hand positions are demonstrated and practised until you are confident with them. You will explore methods of connecting to Reiki and you will learn techniques such as hatsurei ho, gassho, the 'Reiki shower' and much more. During the course you will receive several Reiki empowerments and attunements and will have the opportunity to share your experiences and feelings.
When you are ready, we start working with each other. You will get confident with the hand positions and then start to focus on your intuition and feeling the movement of energy (Byosen). There is time for discussion and reflection. We can also take the time to meditate and explore our own experiences with Reiki.
The course is accredited with Professional Ethical Practitioners although you will need to take Reiki 2 Okuden in order to practise Reiki on the public. The first level is suitable for working on your own healing and spiritual development, and on your friends and family.
Reiki for Practitioners - Reiki 2 Okuden
Reiki 2 (Okuden) moves on to develop you into a Reiki Practitioner, confident in the use of the Reiki Symbols and the different levels of ki that they represent - physical/earthly, mental/emotional/heavenly and energetic connections.
You will complete the course with a much deeper understanding of Reiki, confident in your own intuition and able to offer healing sessions to others.
During the Reiki training course you will receive several empowerments (reiju) and attunements at level 2/Okuden and there will be time to share your experiences and feelings about Reiki.
Topics covered on the course will include:
•a background to Japanese medicine theory (meridians, tsubos, the different levels of ki and their functions in the person and nature, the five elements, and the 24-hour cycle of ki through the meridians)
•revision of the hand positions for self-treatment and for treating others
• delivering Reiki intuitively using byosen (sensing the movement of energy)
•distance healing techniques for others and healing the distant self (e.g. past life issues you wish to resolve or moving forward in a difficult situation)
•visualisation and meditation
•making a crystal grid and using it for distance healing and other purposes
•Japanese Reiki techniques such as Ketsueki Kokan
Throughout the course the emphasis is on developing your sensitivity to the energies of the symbols and developing your skills in balancing the energy flow and achieving optimum health for yourself and others. You will receive your certificate on the day, ready to insure as a practitioner of Reiki - options include joining Professional Ethical Practitioners or insuring direct with a broker like Westminster Indemnity, and you will be able to do this online straight after the course.
Usui Reiki Master/Teacher level (Shinpiden)
Reiki Master/Teacher training is arranged regularly throughout the year. This level is a two-day course with support afterwards when you ask for it. Students are strongly recommended to take the package which includes the Award in Education and Training as this is normally required by colleges and private schools and by insurers for granting a teaching extension. The AET is done online and you can do your teaching practice either in person or via video link.
The energies and symbols of the Master level are taught during and there is lots of opportunity to practise using them in healing work and developing your understanding of what they represent. There are several new healing techniques to learn to use and develop at this level and emphasis is placed upon learning to trust your intuition and listen to your higher self.
This level is also about learning to teach Reiki and time is spent upon planning and presenting Reiki classes for Reiki 1 and 2. You will be given plenty of information about where to find teaching resources and I have loads of books and materials for you to browse to give you a flavour of what is out there for you to use in your own teaching. We all develop our own style - I open the door and show you where the path is but you will follow it in your own way.
